Matt Stookey

Matthew Stookey is a saxophonist and teacher based in Dallas, TX. Currently,
Matthew teaches in the Wylie Independent School District where his students have
received superior ratings at Solo & Ensemble competitions, in addition to earning
seats in the All Region, Area, and State Concert and Jazz bands. In the summers he
teaches at the Young Saxophonist’s Institute camps in the DFW area, and is a site
coordinator for the Wylie, TX camp. Matthew holds the alto saxophone chair in the
Lone Star Wind Orchestra and has had the privilege of being invited to perform at
the Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, North American Saxophone
Alliance conference, TMEA Convention Music Showcase, and has performed at Alice
Tully Hall at Lincoln Center with the Ithaca College Wind Ensemble. Matthew also
had the opportunity to tour China with the University of Northern Colorado Wind
Ensemble.


Matthew is currently a Doctoral Candidate at the University of North Texas where
he has served as Saxophone Teaching Fellow to. He holds a Master of Music in
Saxophone Performance degree from Ithaca College, where he taught as a Graduate
Assistant. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of
Northern Colorado. Matthew has studied with Eric Nestler, Steven Mauk, Andrew
Dahlke, and Timothy Ishii. He is an alumni member of Kappa Kappa Psi National
Honorary Band Fraternity and a lifetime member of Pi Kappa Lambda National
Music Honor Society. Matthew also serves as Co-Chair for the Ithaca College Council
of Advocates Dallas Chapter.
